Accessing the Workbench

To access the Workbench, open a web browser and enter the URL http://hostname:8080/ where hostname is the DNS name or IP address of your development environment's DataStage engine.  This takes you to the MettleCI login page:



Login to the Workbench using your DataStage username and password.  The first time you login to Workbench you will be prompted to register your  account.

Registering a Workbench User

If the DataStage user has not logged into Workbench before, additional information is requested to correctly attach the Git actions to the user in the Workbench.



The Workbench Home Page

When connecting via the generic Workbench URL, the user is taken after login to the to the Home Page.

Workbench functionality can be accessed directly via the Workbench UI, or may be triggered through DataStage using Tools > Custom menu.To configure this functionality, click the purple "Integrate with DataStage Client" button on the Workbench home page.

This downloads a file called MCI_Setup.exe

Run this setup file, agreeing to the Windows Security query if it occurs:

Hit Next >> to enter the installation wizard

Click Yes to confirm the path to the DataStage client.

Exit the wizard and log into DataStage.

Inspect the Tools > Custom > Customise... settings and note the last four entries.

These allow the user to invoke Workbench functionality from within DataStage: Workbench navigates to the appropriate view and auto-populates the Project Name and Job Name with the values from the active job in the DataStage Designer.  Open a job and select each menu item, ensuring each time that you are presented with the Workbench page relevant to your menu selection.
