Creating a Workbench User

The Workbench Home Page

When connecting via the generic Workbench URL, the user is taken after login to the to the Home Page.

From here, users can easily access the major Workbench functionality.

Setting up Integration with DataStage

Workbench functionality can be accessed via the Workbench UI, or may be triggered through DataStage using Tools > Custom menu.

To configure this functionality, click the purple "Integrate with DataStage Client" button on the Workbench home page.

This downloads a file called MCI_Setup.exe.

Run this setup file, agreeing to the Windows Security query if it occurs:

Hit next to enter the installation wizard

At this point the wizard will ask for details to connect to an Atlassian Bamboo server.

This is only relevant for legacy DataStage custom actions if the option is selected in the wizard step following this one.

Enter any text, click Next > and verify by click Yes to continue. Note: because we are not selecting this option, the actual value types is irrelevant.

Leave the default option selection (as seen below) and click Install to continue

Click Yes to confirm the path to the DataStage client.

Exit the wizard and log into DataStage.

Inspect the Tools > Custom > Customise... settings and note the last four entries.

These allow the user to invoke Workbench functionality from within DataStage: Workbench navigates to the appropriate view and auto-populates the Project Name and Job Name with the values from the active job in the DataStage Designer.
