The first time you invoke MettleCI Workbench after installation you'll be presented with a setup wizard to take you through the necessary configuration steps. This page will walk you through the configuration wizard, describing what’s required at each stage.

Before using the setup wizard

Your experience will be smoother if you perform some preparation before starting the MettleCI Setup Wizard:

Obtain a valid MettleCI License file.
Have your DataStage connectivity details to hand:
1. Your DataStage Engine installation directory (typically /opt/IBM/InformationServer/Server/DSEngine on Unix machines, for example)
2. Your DataStage user credentials which Workbench will use to communicate with your DataStage environment
If you need to use a pre-existing key pair for your Git authentication then ensure you have the public key available.
Have available the relevant connection details for your work item management system (Azure DevOps, Gitlab, Jira, or ServiceNow)

Once you're ready navigate to http://[WORKBENCH_INSTALLATION_HOSTNAME]:8080 in your browser.

The user that runs the MettleCI Workbench service (defined by the DM_WORKBENCH_USER environment variable - typically set to mciworkb) must have Read/Write (minimum 600) permissions to the MettleCI Workbench license file (mettleci.lic)

Setup Wizard Welcome

Click Next to begin.

MettleCI Home Configuration

Upload your valid MettleCI License by clicking the Upload file button. Once it’s been validated its details will be displayed. Then click Next to proceed.

Datastage Settings

Enter your DataStage home directory and click Next to authenticate it and proceed.

The following page will allow you to confirm the Engine and Service tier details and provide credential for the user account that MettleCI Workbench should use to communicate with DataStage.

Note that the default value provided for the service tier hostname will need to be changed on Cloud Pak installations.

Git Authentication

Select whether you want MettleCI to generate a Public/Private key pair for you, or whether you want to supply your own. If you want to supply your own then paste the private key into the relevant field. Once you’re ready, click Next to proceed.

Review

Once you reach this stage you’ll be asked to review your configuration. You can click Previous to go back and amend any options you’ve entered. If you’re happy with the values entered click Submit to proceed and you’ll be taken to the MettleCI Workbench Initial Login page where you’ll be required to register your user ID with MettleCI.
