As much as possible, MettleCI relies on the authentication components (and credentials) that already exist in your organisation to avoid the complexities of “low level” AD / LDAP integration. This is what each of the MettleCI components uses:

  • MettleCI Workbench: This piggy-backs the DataStage user account management mechanism so when users log into Workbench, they get the same rights as when they log into the DataStage Designer client. On many customer sites the DataStage application user repository (and any OS users they are mapped to) are already governed by AD.
  • Automation via Bamboo (using MettleCI plugins): These activities are governed by the rights given by your AD administrators to the “robot” application / service users provided for use by MettleCI (per the requirements listed in the pre-requisites document).
